Ossie Ratford Shield ACT V NSW

Excellent weather this time meant that the weekend of golf in the Southern Highlands on the 5th and 6th March with NSW for the Ossie Radford Shield was enjoyed by all participants.

On the Saturday, we played for the coveted jacket. i.e. best left handers score and the shawl best right hander at the Moss Vale course which proved challenging to most.

The winners were:

Jacket   Craig McHatton NSW 32 points - this will be the second time Craig has won this event.

In a hotly contested field of 1, Vic Lupton – NSW won the shawl – score withheld. Vic departed early to avoid being photographed with the shawl and in case it got back to the membership at Pennant Hills Club.

On the Sunday we played at Highlands Club Mittagong for the shield with a field of 19 players. The winning team is based on the average score of the players from each division.
The result was very close with the average score for the ACT 24 points and NSW just slightly ahead with 25.2. John Longmire from the ACT had the privilege of presenting the shield to NSW.

Individual winners were.
Warwick Stanwell NSW 35 points
Runner up John Longmire ACT 34
Third Clem Tozer ACT 30 points
NTP on 18th Ken Norris ACT

This was an enjoyable weekend including socialising at dinner on the Saturday night.
