THE PROGRAM
59th NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - Events and Rules of Play
The Men's and Ladies Championship are played over 72 holes of stroke play.
A Men's Veterans Championship and a Men's Super Veterans’ Championship, also stroke, will be conducted in conjunction with the main event over 72 holes. A ladies Veterans stroke event will also be conducted.
Left-handed men players aged 55 - 69 are eligible for the Men's Veterans event. Left-handed men players aged 70 and over are eligible for the Men's Super Veterans event. Left-handed lady players aged 55 years and over are eligible for the Ladies Veterans event.
All other events/prizes will be determined by Stableford scores, including all daily prizes.

Open Men’s 72 hole Championship – Best Gross Stroke
Open Women’s 72 hole Championship -Best Gross Stroke
Veterans Men’s Championship (Terry Lennox Cup) - The Terry Lennox Cup shall be awarded to the left-handed player aged 55 – 69 years who has the best Gross Stroke score over the four rounds of the Championship.
Super Veterans Men’s Championship (Doug Crosby Cup) – The Doug Crosby Cup shall be awarded to the left-handed player aged 70 years and over who has the best Gross Stroke score over the four rounds of the Championship.
Veteran Ladies Championship For players 55 and over with best Gross Stroke score.
A Grade Men’s 72 hole Championship (Doug Bachlii Cup) - best Stableford score
B Grade Men’s 72 hole Championship – best Stableford score
C Grade Men’s 72 hole Championship – best Stableford score
The Founders Shield (72 holes) (George Ewart Shield). The Founders Shield shall be awarded to the left handed player achieving the best overall 72 hole Stableford score over the four rounds of the tournament.
Len Nettlefold Cup (Teams Event). The Len Nettlefold Cup will be awarded to the Division who attains the lowest average Stableford score as per the following specifications: Minimum team of 6 left-handed players (men and women) who must complete all four rounds of the championships: Results calculated on the average stableford score of all players representing the Division
New Zealand Friendly Cup (Stableford). The best ten New Zealand scores and the best ten Australian scores (or lower number if insufficient entries, with equal numbers per country) shall be aggregated for the four rounds of the championship. The team with the best Stableford score shall be the winner of the New Zealand Friendly Cup

With the exception of the Founders Shield, a player may win only one individual event as listed in the above Categories. Where a player has the best score in any of the events listed in Category 1 and/or Category 2, but has already been determined to receive an award in an earlier determined event, the award for that event should be made to the next best performing player
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLAYERS - RULES AND CONDUCT
The Championships are played in accordance with the rules of golf in association with the local rules of the course being played and the special Rules herein.
Entrants must be members of NALG Australia or an overseas Association. Members of NALG must have a current GA handicap. The Championships will be played over 72 holes Stroke and/or Stableford play in three Men’s Grades, a Ladies division, plus a Veterans' and Super Veterans Championship.
Handicap Grades will be determined according to the handicaps of entrants with approximately one-third of the field in each grade.
All shots must be played left-handed, except for trouble shots where it is not possible to swing left-handed. No right-handed club may be carried by championship players.
Players must report to the starter at least thirty (30) minutes prior to hit off. A player arriving late shall be relegated to the end of the field (or fitted in at the starter's discretion) under penalty of two (2) strokes.
The Tournament Committee shall have power to re-handicap a player during the Championship for the daily competitions only.
All disputes or requests for rulings must be lodged with the Tournament Committee as soon as possible following the completion of the round so that they may be resolved before the next round commences. The Committee’s decision will be final.
In the event of a tie in the Men's and Ladies Championships, a three (3) hole playoff followed by a sudden death if still tied, shall be held over such holes as are stipulated by the Match Committee. In all other events, including B and C Grade Championships, tied results will be determined by the count-back system currently in operation by the Golf Australia.
Daily Events
Each day’s competition is treated separately i.e. A player may win Stableford prizes on more than one day.
Motorised Carts
The use of motorised golf carts is permissible in the Championships. The Organising Committee will advise policy of golf club regarding use of own carts.
The Men's and Ladies Championship are played over 72 holes of stroke play.
